Our House

We have been eagerly waiting to share with you our latest project- our own home. It took us 8 months to renovate our 3 bedroom 2 bathroom, Goochland house, and we're ready for you to see it at last!

We were so excited to finally be able to do this for ourselves. We went back and forth between lots of design ideas until we decided on a modern farmhouse exterior design. It was a long, challenging renovation. Lots of learning curves with this one. We wanted to create an open and airy feel, that was also a cozy, family friendly, and great for entertaining space. We couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.

The kitchen is my favorite part of our new home. I haven't had a dishwasher in 2 years, I had forgotten how much easier it makes life!  Never going back. I love to cook, so having a kitchen with lots of counter space and cabinet storage is everything. And I'm obsessed with our reclaimed wood wrapped island and how it opens to the dining room and living room.

Knowing this was our house, we tried a few new designs. We usually gravitate towards the timelessness of white subway tile for a kitchen backsplash, but I found this deep navy glazed brick tile that I feel in love with and had to have. We also incorporated soap stone for the counter tops along the wall to accent the Carrera marble on the island.

We went all out with the silver reclaimed wood on the island and fireplace. We also used a gorgeous old pocket door that came out one of our Church Hill renovations as a sliding door separating the living area to the bedrooms. Oh, and the NanaWall is a first for us (the retractable door that creates the large open space leading out onto the back deck), and we're so glad we did it- the view is incredible! Josh's favorite, obviously, is the fact that we have a golf course in our front yard.

Our kids are equally has excited as we are. They love finally having their own rooms. Hazel has her "pink" room that she has been talking about for a year now and Riley is so happy to have his own dude space. Most of the basement is dedicated to a playroom, lots of room for toys, games, and fun.

We're beyond happy to have such great supporters to share our personal projects with. Next on the list is turning the garage down by the pond into a guest house!
